Sprint Planning

Who is this for?

This template is designed for Product Owners, Tech Leads, and Tribe Leads who want to standardize and document the sprint planning process with a clear, structured approval flow. It's ideal for Agile/Scrum teams that need accountability and consistency before kicking off a new sprint.

What problem does this workflow solve?

Manual sprint planning often lacks proper documentation, leads to miscommunication between roles, and has no consistent review mechanism. This template ensures every Sprint Backlog goes through a structured, multi-level verification before a sprint officially begins.

What this workflow does

  1. Sprint Backlog Submission — The Product Owner submits sprint details including sprint name, start date, planning date, project, Gantt Chart percentages, and Tech Lead and Tribe Lead information.
  2. Initial Review by Tech Lead — The Tech Lead reviews the backlog and decides: Approved, Revision Required, or Rejected.
  3. Backlog Revision (if needed) — The Product Owner updates the backlog based on the Tech Lead's notes and resubmits for review.
  4. Final Review by Tribe Lead — The Tribe Lead performs the final approval with the same decision options: Approved, Revision Required, or Rejected.
  5. Sprint Planning Execution — Once approved, the Product Owner fills in the sprint planning results. The process ends with a Sprint Backlog Completed status.

How to customize this workflow

  • Approval conditions: Adjust the decision options to match your team's internal terminology.
  • Form fields: Add or remove fields in the submission form to fit your organization's sprint data requirements.
